Difficult choice: Paola Pezzo or Rasmussen? Or may be not... :) I know of the Los Locos shop from my last trip to Lake Garda. I used to ride past it on my some of my morning rides. At least I have a few alternatives, even if there is no rental in Volta Mantovana.

I rented the bike at a place close to the railway station. I think it is called "Bauer". The person I rented from was a german who lived nearby. The bikes where not the best, but they had an old road bike that was ok.
