I was here in Florence from July - September and then had to leave. This time I brought my rode bike with me (don't hate me...... ) as well as my mountain bike. I also brought my wife and we need to get her a bike to ride with me...nothing aggressive, just a hard tail (maybe a soft tail) to be able to ride with me around Florence and along the Arno, Mount Ceceri, etc. I hope within the next couple weeks to get back into riding alot (work and the holidays has taken it away from me the last couple months) to get into shape to ride Monte Morello in the spring!! Any suggestions of shops in or around Florence (we can drive and put a bike in the back) where I can get a fair deal on a mountain bike for my wife?? I know of Probike and Florencebybike, any other suggestions and their locations? Grazie mille mille mille.....

You could see to Nencini Sport, near the Prato-Calenzano Exit of A1 (Autostrada del sole). This is a big shop. They could have a good price and a good choice o-o

This afternoon, coming out of job, i'm going to go to nencini sport that is in calenzano (close to prato). I have to buy a new chain. They have Trek, Gary Fisher, KTM ........

My company is very close to NP-GE, so if you're interested I can pick you up at 18.15 - 18.30, it is a fourty minute matter to go there and come back.

You can take a look at Bike Paradise, in Pontassieve. The owner, Alessio, is a very nice person: ask other people in the forum, everyone can confirm it! The only way I know to reach the shop is taking the A1 towards Roma until Firenze Sud, then going on following the indications for Pontassieve. Then you have to cross the river (the Sieve, I think) and continue straight ahead until you reach a tunnel. You must take the first exit suddenly after the end of the tunnel: a few hundred meters and you eventually find a semaphore: take left, again a couple hundred meters and you find Bike Paradise on your left. Probably there's an easier way to go there from Florence, but I don't know it

Hi MCF .
Yes , Nencinisport could be a good idea : as it's a big shop ( check www.nencinisport.it ) they have a good choice of second-hand bikes but also new ones that are being sold at a cheaper proce just because they are not a 2007 model , but a little older !

Can anyone give detailed directions to a good parking place/starting place on Monte Morello say from the Sesto Iper Coop or NencinoSport if you want to start ride the trails of Monte Morello from where you park? Hi MCF, i try to explane you.
If you arrive from Sesto Iper Coop, you can check a city map and find VIALE XX SETTEMBRE,near Iper Coop, direction north, to Monte Morello.
it's a long way, where you can find some place for park, quiet, and start to ride to Monte Morello.
but, if you stay tuned we could make an appointment next weekend, in the morning, and go togheter, for show you what could be the best way for go up to the mountain.
i hope you understand my language!!

Let's see how the weather turns out next weekend...send me a PM sometime during the week. Wanted to ride some today(maybe around the Arno with my wife), but 40deg F is just a little too cold for me....even with leg warmers, arm warmers, wind layer, etc. etc. Thanks!!

Didn't realize when I bought my wife's bike that the wheels are drilled for Schraider valves...I guess the guy that was helping me didn't realize either since he gave me presta valve tubes. Do you think Nencini (or anywhere) carries 700 x 35C schraider tubes or the plastic grommets that will allow you to use presta tubes in wheels drilled for schraider? I haven't had any luck at the couple shops I have gone to in the Centre. Thanks!

Yes ... i suppose so : Nencini sells a lot of different parts , tubes and tires .
So there is no reason why they should not sell something like that .
(I know that Presta and Schraeder are the large one and the small one , but i don't remember which is which)

Anyway ,why 700x35C ? Is it a trekking bike ?

Is is a trekking bike and NOBODY in the center sells shrader valve 700x35 shrader tubes OR the Grommet/adapter...of course Florencebybike said they did in an email but when I got there, they didn't......I guess I will have to drive to Nencini to see if they have either the adapte or the shrader tubes...what will be interesting is if they don't sell the adapter or the tube, considering they sold the bike with the 'old school' shrader wheels...
