Hello,

I am almost a forty year old REAL novice, in the sense that I have practically never done any sport, last year I bought a MTB aware of my poor physical condition and I started pedaling through the woods around my house ..... fatigue !!!

Here I read about "beginners" but who are already grinding miles like nothing, they descend from fear, climb steeply and technically know the bike in an excellent way.
I make exits of at most 1 1/2 hours then I'm dead, if the path is just uphill my legs are on fire, if the climb is a little heavier I go to the beats at 1000, the front wheel rears up, if I stop, I don't go any more ... not to mention the descent, going on foot would take half of the time, all braked and in any case never on too rough ground ...

In short, I realized that my biggest problem is the lack of training and technique, but there are some of you who at least when you started confined yourself to hiking on dirt roads in the middle of the fields, flat paths in the woods and small hills and that has improved over time, or are you all people who already come from some other sport and have just climbed a 1500m bike?

I have so much fun, I really like going for a ride, it's just that reading here and there ... I really feel like a bum!: - ((

Hey Neal, just look for fun and do not stress yourself, you will get better and better, human body is a wonderful machine, it just needs some time to adapt.

this is you right now :-)
.

Il video è una credibilissima fotografia di quello che ha iniziato a succedere a me (ma la cravatta me la metto comunque ...).

Hello to all

Neal

Hi Neal,
don't give up! As @flavio-san said try to enjoy your biking, plan your rides according to your training, don't over do or it will be only suffering. You should plan your goals realisticaly, and every time you achieve one plan the next one a bit harder. You will be surprised of how much you will be able to do in a few months

If they're writing here, they're not riding. Everything is much easier from the couch!

Nah, just joking... I think what you're feeling is absolutely the norm for most beginners, apart from the friendly bunch of naturally gifted rider we're sometimes awarded with (especially on Fridays).

Keep enjoying riding and everything will be fine!
